Building on DeltaOrbit's demonstrated methane/oxygen resonance igniter, the project extends the same gas-dynamic resonance principle to additional propellant combinations, including LOX/LH₂ and LOX/RP-1, with the goal of creating a single igniter architecture that requires no pyrophoric fluids, no spark systems, and no external electrical power.
DeltaOrbit coordinates the consortium and leads system design, integration, and hot-fire testing. ArmorArsenal (France) contributes fast-response valve development for broad propellant compatibility. TU Braunschweig/IRAS covers resonator cavity optimisation, numerical modelling, and vacuum-environment test support. The programme will validate multi-fuel ignition capability and rapid re-ignition for clustered engine architectures relevant to micro-launchers and future in-space mobility platforms.
